Institute for Multidisciplinary Analysis, Design, and Optimization

Applied Optimization for Multidisciplinary Analysis and Design Short Course, June 15-18, 2009

The Institute for Multidisciplinary Analysis, Design, and Optimization is a virtual, geographically distributed collaboration, centered at the Ohio Aerospace Institute, aimed at achieving its goal through collaboration between NASA Glenn Research Center, other government labs, universities, and industry, focused on developing state-of-the-art, user-friendly and cost-effective integrated systems for multidisciplinary analysis, design and optimization on high performance parallel and distributed computers, applicable to real-world engineering problems in aeropropulsion and space exploration systems. Collaborators are sought in who can bring the appropriate mix of disciplinary expertise in computational modeling, mechanics, system design and engineering, and other disciplines.

The Institute will offer opportunities for participation through:
  • Research residencies at the Ohio Aerospace Institute;
  • Pursuit of research at researchers’ home institutions;
  • Technical workshops, seminars, short courses, lectures, and conference advancing the state of the art;
  • Student research residencies at the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

Student and professional resident researchers will be selected for support based upon a competitive, peer-reviewed process whereby they will propose relevant research efforts in multidisciplinary design and optimization.

The Institute is currently accepting applications for its first student research residencies. To apply, please review the MADO Student Research Residency Announcement and complete and return the Application by February 15, 2009. Students will be notified of their selection by March 1, 2009.

See the Announcement and Application for year 2010 information.
